Shortening Franchi Affinity LOP

Anyone have any experience cutting down the stock of a Franchi Affinity? Im going to pick one up for my son and will need to take about an inch off the LOP. Looking at pics and videos online it appears that I can trim the stock and the two attachment points and reuse the dogleg shaped recoil pad. May have to grind down the recoil pad slightly to account for the stock taper. Is it that simple or is there something I’m not accounting for? Do the screw pillars for the recoil pad run the full length of the inside of the stock? Any insight is appreciated
