Tell me your thoughts/experiences with the 6XC

Evening to All,
I’m a 243 Win guy. Just wondering if there any advantages or disadvantages over 6 Creedmoor and 243 Win. I’m fully vested in 243 Win for reloading, components etc.
I have a wandering eye so to speak.

The selling point of XC to me is cheap Peterson brass and a little less overbore than 243/6 CM. But it’s hardly any different in capacity than the small capacity 6cm Peterson brass. Never had one.

I am waiting on a Criterion 6xc prefit barrel I have on order so can't tell you any experiences. I can tell you my thoughts on why I went with it though... Tubb sells peterson brass for $70/100, the barrel was $350 vs $450 for 6cm, and it should get slightly better barrel life than 6cm. So pretty much me being cheap.

This will be replacing a 243 win barrel. The main advantage for me is that my 243 is the standard 1:10 twist rate and cant stabilize the high BC bullets. The secondary advantage I hope to gain is a bit more accuracy. The best the factory 243 barrel can do with handloads is 1 moa for 5 shots, I'd like to do better even though 1 moa is good enough for the targets and distances I shoot.

If you have a fast twist 243 I would shoot that out first before thinking about rebarreling to something else.

I have 3x 6XC’s (as well as a lot of 243’s and 6cm’s). Performance wise (MV) the XC, 6cm, and 243win are same/same functionally.

The 6XC is like a bigger 6BR- not fussy at all, shoots everything, very predictable and consistent. I personally think it is the best overall package for that size 6mm cartridge.

Perhaps worth noting that Blaser offers rifles chambered in 6XC.
