short Leica video

I got a pair of Trinovids from 1996 (I think) and they are awesome. New stuff isn’t the same quality, at least having several of their televid spotters without a quality view and issues. Love the old Trimovids though.

My baby Trinovid’s. Still in regular use. I think I purchased them in the early 90’s? I have a couple of friends that still hunt with their early pre Leica, Leitz Trinovid 10x40’s.

Still have and occasionally use my mid-1990s Trinovids. A couple years after buying them, they developed a collimation issue and then the focus wheel began to malfunction. I contacted Leica customer service to get them repaired and they were an absolute nightmare to deal with - arrogant, condescending and insistent that I must have abused them (prior to even inspecting the device). They finally agreed to inspect it - almost a full year and many follow-up phone calls later I finally got them back. It was long ago now but seem to recall paying for the repair.

Have a 1000-R rangefinder that served faithfully for many years and is now malfunctioning. I’m debating if it is worth dealing with the hazing of Leica customer service again or just buying another rangefinder. Leica makes high performing products that I like to use for hunting but God save you if something goes wrong. Over the years my experiences with Zeiss and Swarovski were far better, especially Zeiss. In fact, when the center hinge of my old Zeiss Classic 10x40s finally wore out from decades of use, not only did they fix it and tune up the old binos for free, they actually apologized for taking longer than expected as they had to send this long-discontinued model back to Germany for proper repair.

Spiral, as of late most people have had great CS from Leica, I'd give them another try.
Don’t know why some are so quick to dismiss actual bad experiences others have had while dealing with a particular product or company. It happened. There is no valid excuse and customers deserve better.

However, since Leica had recently claimed complete re-dedication to customer care, I‘ll contact them and request they repair the unit (which I purchased new), and post the honest results here on Rokslide.

I have no doubt you had a bad experience, Leica's poor CS was very common in the past. I was just saying from my personal experience and many others they've stepped up there game, that's all.

Well now. Every once in a while something pleasantly exceeds expectations. I’m very pleased to report that my recent experience with Leica Customer Care could not have gone better.

My Leica CRF 1000-R Rangefinder began failing and finally stopped working altogether. Some folks on this site helped me connect with Leica Customer Care and from there on it was smooth sailing. They sent me a UPS return label and I shipped it back and pretty much like lightning they inspected the unit, agreed that it was beyond repair and shipped me back a free replacement.

Throughout the entire process Leica staff was very courteous and professional. Based on this experience I’d have to agree that Leica has done a complete 180 from years past and now offers first-rate customer care.
