Short barreled 300 PRC

Does anyone have any experience with a short barreled 300 PRC? I have been eyeing Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT. It has a 22" barrel. How much velocity would you loose by going with a short barrel and still be able to shoot good groups @1000 or more yards?

What length are you going to cut it down to?

You loose around 25-30fps per inch. You should still get great velocity with that round.

Should loose about ~25 - 30 fps per inch. You won't actually see any loss in accuracy, possibly gain as the harmonics are lessened with the barrel being stiffer.

I have a 24” and am pushing 230 hybrid at 2917fps with N570 and ADG brass. This group is at 600 yards. So figure ~60fps slower with the 22”.

I’m getting 3003 fps with 205 bergers and h4831 out of mine with a 22 barrel.

The box velocity for the Precision Hunter is 2860 with a 24” barrel. Im getting 2809 with my Christensen Arms FFT with 22” barrel. My barrel my have sped up since chronographing.

I’m building a similar rifle to yours. Zermatt origin LA, mdt hnt26 in 300prc. Fluted stainless barrel instead of carbon ( too good a deal to pass on).

How’s feeding from the magazine with your setup?

Has anyone used H-1000 for the 230gr A-TIP ? I have a 22'' 1 in 8 twist Proof barrel with about 40 rounds shot through it. So far the 212gr ELD X and the 225gr ELD M is a toss up , both are 1/2 MOA at 200 yds
