Was pretty set on getting an Xpedition Xcentric 7 but getting a different idea

I like to run a little bit longer ata bows in general

My last couple bows have been Hoyts and I've been really happy with them

The only new Hoyt that I really like all the stats on is the Carbon Defiant 31

I'm scared to go to a bow that short, this would be my first ever

What do you guys think, will a 31 ata bow effect my long range (80-100 yard) accuracy? Any other negative/differences I would see stepping down in ata length? Is the forgiveness the same?

I'm big on always having a longer ATA. Fact being that they are more forgiving to shoot. A little slower but not much.

Why are you wanting a shorter ATA bow? Cut weight? If you go from a 31 to 34 length ATA carbon defiant your probably only losing .4 ounces? Not worth the trade off for me.

Only reason I could see justifying a shorter ATA is because I'm hunting in a blind all the time. Looking for more clearance.

I would rather have a more forgiving and comfortable bow.

Just my opinion. I'm curious what others think on this topic as well.

I just don't like how slow the 34s are. For some reason the 31s are faster.

The ata difference in the Hoyt and Xpedition is literally 1.25", which the more I think about I doubt I will see any difference in the real world..

I guess the main difference between the 2 bows is the Xcentric is way faster (13fps), but I love the feel of my old Hoyts.. I'll be shooting the new Hoyt pretty soon before I make any choices, just scared of that tiny ata height

Ive been just as accurate with 32" ( vector 32 , bowmadness , prophecy) as I was with 34" ( Vendetta , Faktor Turbo 33") I think its a matter of feel for the bow and if your comfortable with it or not . I think if your form is good you wont have an issue , if the bow feels good to you.

Don't shoot wheels anymore so take this as you may. Sounds like 13fps is an excuse to buy a new bow, no excuse needed lol. When I want a new one I just build another. Im not an engineer but I would guess that 13 fps isn't gonna equate to more than an inch or two at 80-100, and maybe a couple mm of pin adjustment. Some say longer ata is more forgiving but they also say a heigher brace is more forgiving since the arrow is off the string before bad form kicks in.

Shoot what you shoot best and have confidence in period!

I watched a clip on the Defiant 31 showing how the cams top out higher and it actually shoots at a 34" height and the Defiant 34 shoots at a 37" height...

Is this true or is it just gimmicky marketing???

If you like hoyts that much get a turbo. I personally feel that xpedition offers the best product in archery today.

I like limb stops, I like hybrid cams, it makes excellent speed with a pretty manageable draw force and the customer service I have received has been second to none.

There are not a lot of products I absolutely believe in and am confident I will be taken care of, Kifaru, Spot Hogg tightspot and now xpedition.

Shoot one for yourself and make the decision from there.

Technically yes although I don't know exactly where they get their measurements, or what bow they are comparing it to. but it's not like Hoyt is the only bow in town to have this characteristic. All bows shoot longer then their ATA's would suggest compared to bows of 10 years ago. Larger cams, longer risers, more parallel limbs.

I shoot my 31" switchback xt as well or better than my 33.5" chill r. Brace height probably has more to do with it than length. I'm hoping to get to try the new carbon spyder fx 28" soon. I personally really like the short bows.

I like the short ATA a lot. I hunt on steep slopes, and in treestands, and in blinds, and I like to be able to shoot when sitting on my butt. I am also pretty short, so it all works much better for me to have a short bow. Accuracy is a non issue for me.
