I've read loads of reviews and it sounds like a great little tripod but I've not seen any firsthand feedback on using the backcountry lite as a shooting platform.

So who's tried shooting off of it and what do you think?

Eeehh…it’s okay. It’s crazy light which doesn’t make for the most steady platform,…but it works fine and is a damn sight better than shooting sticks or free-hand.

Thanks Dave. Think im going to go ahead and give the Aziak a try. Considering how light it is I consider that positive feedback for the Aziak. The tripods main job for me will be holding binos or a spotter.

I have one and it’s been a big upgrade from my previous set up shaved almost a 1 1/2 off in weight.

I have only shot prone with it and it has checked all the boxes

I picked one up and was planning on a similar usage. 99% of the time just glassing, but put the mini Salmon River arca rail on my gun so I could use it shooting. Planning on going to the range today to try it for the first time. Will post again once I'm back.

Shot about a dozen times off it, and thought it worked well. I think it takes a little more fine tuning to control muzzle jump than a straight bipod would. Did the trick though and still really like the tripod

How did the tripod work for you guys during hunting season this year? I'm just wondering if anyone was able to use it in the field and how it worked for you in that scenario vs at the range?

I liked it a lot at for glassing, but still found shooting prone off my pack to be faster and more stable. I also couldn’t ever get the hang of the ball head, so bought a tricer LP And really liked the combo.

Thanks. I'm considering getting one myself for this off-season and trying it out with one of the spartan heads. If I do then I'll make sure to post on here how it works.

Have aziak backcountry with Wiser PH-170 head. Shot off it at range without issue. I have salmon river solutions arca and pic rail attachment on my rifle. Nice for glassing assuming you won’t be standing. Didn’t end up needing it for shot this season but I got setup for a shot multiple times in field with it and the main issue was that the wiser head doesn’t tilt side to side so unless you get the feet of the tripod just perfect on uneven terrain your rifle will not be level. This is more of an issue of the head. The tripod worked great but be mindful of head choice if you want to shoot off it.
