Holy hell. I went to the range today, popped open Shooter, and did a double take. Looks like they pushed update v2.0.0 yesterday (Jan 30, 2026) and… it’s different.

I have all kinds of questions. My initial reaction is that it’s a step in the wrong direction, to be polite. Anyone else see this?

Editing now that I’ve looked at it in more detail.

- Default Calc Display option in settings doesn’t seem to work. Mine shows the Solution screen no matter what.

- It displays mils to two decimals in the Table screen. I want it rounded to one decimal.

- There doesn’t seem to be a Simple/Advanced setting anymore.

- The Solution screen makes me want to barf.

- Velocity calibration seems unchanged, which is good. It was good before.

- When entering inputs (e.g., distance, temp, etc), you have to manually delete the old entry and enter the new one. It should let you simply overwrite the old entry without needing to manually delete it.

I have been using shooter for years and at first glance I don't like the new version but I don't like change either... A friend and I are heading out this am to do sum shooting so time will tell....

Just started using Shooter and really like it. Glad I came across this. Hasn’t updated yet, hopefully can keep the older version…

I switched to AB Quantum about a month ago after using Shooter for many years. It’s a little clunkier to operate (could be I’m just not used to it yet), but overall I’m pretty happy with it.

Yeah I just saw this yesterday when running calcs for some 140 TRU ammo. Now I don’t know which app I’ll look to use - Sierra, AB, or this.

So don't get the update is what I'm reading. My phone doesn't auto-update apps so it looks like I'm still on the old version.

Owner emailed back asking for feedback on why the new version isn’t appealing. Would encourage everyone to email him with your thoughts.

I think every app goes through this process of thinking they know what users want/need better than the users do.

Hornady 4dof app used to work pretty well (at least the bc based side) then they 'updated' it and forced you to log in to an account, not just have stuff saved local. That was a year or more after the last time I'd actually 'logged in'. When I logged in it deleted everything I'd put in and saved locally and gave me back all the stuff I'd deleted out because I no longer used/needed it. Some of it for rifles I don't even own.

But on the bright side, at least now I can see ads for Hornady stuff every time I need a number in the field. Thanks.

If the app creator can’t understand that he’s made something that doesn’t generate an easy reference picture/graph, he’s beyond help. I am not automatically opposed to change, but the useful information is no longer displayed in a way I can easily use on an iPhone screen.
