Need some help as my Google skills are lacking this evening. My wife shot a bit of a toad this weekend and after some amateur scoring I’m seriously questioning my numbers.

Can anyone confirm the following..

1. Minimum 3-year B&C Shiras score.
2. Minimum all-time B&C Shiras score.
3. All-time Idaho record Shiras moose score.
4. Score of top ten Idaho Shiras bulls all-time.

If someone can point me to a site to ascertain these figures on my own, I’ll happily do the research myself.

Many thanks.

Dave

What score did you come up with?

Moose can be tricky to score.
Agreed. Which is why I have to be doing something wrong.

There were six of us standing there with a soft tape and the Boone and Crockett scoring guidelines though. After measuring it repeatedly, we only had about four points of variance between all of us and the scores.

Very cool. That's a stud for sure. Plug some of the measurements and pictures into chatgpt. See how close it is. It was very accurate on my antelope that made the books.

Your length measurements are going to be the hardest to measure. They can be a bit tricky. What did you come with on lengths? One thing you have going on score is it looks like all his points score without question. Regardless of score or records, congrats to you guys on a Shiras of many lifetimes.

34” and 32.5” on paddle length. Does that seem right? Here’s another photo for reference. He has four brow tines on each side, which definitely helps lengthen the measurement as best I can tell.

You only need 2 brow tines to get the paddle length - from the top valley point of the paddle to the longest valley of the brow tines.

That bull will score really well

I have my Shiras in the B&C book ;)

Definitely All-time! Congrats to the hunter! Your wife?
That beautiful little gal is in fact my wife of 23 years.

She’s the 12th person I have helped guide to a moose. None better than hers and none I’ve enjoyed the hunt with more.

It was a great experience for both of us and I’m a blessed man to have her in my life. She was a “reluctant” hunter frankly, but we shared an amazing few days together with just the two of us chasing bulls.

This is day one chasing a big one that ultimately gave us the slip.
