Shipping ammo, any recent experiences?

You can, ups hub only with UN sticker on the box. Unless they changed .

I think everyone has slightly different experiences shipping ammo. The last time I did it they required an ORM-D Small Arms Ammo sticker and the package had to be shipped from one of their own centers (not UPS store and not local drop box). I believe that is still mostly correct. I haven't read 49 C.F.R. § 172 for the actual rules on labeling but the UPS website has the info and I think you can now schedule a UPS pick up (for this you may have to add something to your account for Hazardous shipping)

Is it more expensive to ship ammo, if so a lot more?
Deal with it everyday for my job. Not more expensive. Package it, put the appropriate HAZMAT/limited quantity label on it and bring it to a UPS hub. I've personally sent a lot of ammo and they have always had the appropriate stickers/labels at the UPS hub counter.

The ORMD sticker is no longer the correct label, you need to use the white diamond with black tips hazmat sticker. You can just print one out on paper and tape it to the box or draw one on with a black marker.

Other than that print your own label online and take it directly to the hub.

Yep. UPS works just fine. The diamond listed above can be printed and put on the box at home. I use ups pickup as that is a valid option and have used it many times this past year. I think it’s like $10 extra but it’s worth it to me to not have to drive to a hub. If I have a package coming I don’t schedule a pick up and just give the box to the driver and save the pick up charge. Just remember you have to ship ground.

A while back I took a box of cartridges to a hub for mailing. They put the black and white diamond sticker on for me. The guy at the counter told me you can probably get away with putting on your own Diamond, and dropping it off at your local UPS store. Seems like worst can happen is they will refuse. Or give it to the driver if you can catch him.

Looking for information on shipping ammo, one individual to another. Best I can tell you can ship via UPS.
thanks everyone

No but the caveat is if you have to schedule a pick-up then it's like $8-13. Having to travel to a UPS owned shipping center can be expensive...nearest one to me is 55 miles away. Depending on the amount of ammo a box can be fairly heavy so that will come into play too.

i'm always getting stuff via ups at home; just hand it to the driver when he's dropping something off. also, just put in the outgoing bin at work if you have that. also the local mail-it stores don't seem to care, just drop it off.

That works too just pointing out that it's $8-13 if you have to schedule a pick up.

Not everyone is home all day (or like me has a stealth UPS driver and packages just appear and I've never actually seen him lol) or has daily pick up at the office. A lot of UPS drop site says no to hazardous shipments while others would take a box of plutonium and not question a thing. YMMV

I’m retired and home all day. We have ups drop offs almost every day.
