I'm continuing to find new ways to cook with all of the burger I end up with. Tacos, meatloaf etc. Last night my first shepards pie. I cherry picked from a handful of Internet recipes and pretty happy with how it came out. The top didn't get crispy like some folks like, but it could be our elevation.IMG_20240822_174738990.jpg

Looks great. It is great with sweet potatoes as well but some people don't like them for whatever reason.

I hated shepards pie till i put a greasy spin on it.
I make a big one for the boys on our moose trip.

top-garlic and herb mashed potatoes/bacon chunks/1/2 bag of cheese/fresh chopped chives
middle- fresh corn boiled in salted water
bottom- moose ground/garlic salt/garlic/onions/gravy

they don't complain

Technically its a cottage pie, shepherds pie has lamb as the protein ;)

One of my favorite meals, especially in the winter time. Hardy, warm and delicious.

Matty Matheson has a great recipe - I usually do a rendition of his recipe. I like to add diced habaneros to mine for an extra kick, spice is a fun way to add another element to the dish.

Got to get the potatoes fully covering the meat, as above it’s lamb mince for Shepard's pie!

Try this one
