Shelter- How heavy is too heavy?

If I'm using a tent it's my choice. I've used a ton of tents (trekking pole all the way to 4 season) it's faster setup than almost everything else.

What did you end up going with?
The plan is a Moment DW. They said they plan on making a Silpoly version in the spring so waiting on those to come out before I order. The other tents I have will work until then.

I like to pitch my tarp as a tetra wedge with the high point on a tree if bad weather is expected. It's a similar shape to the Scarp, but I can pitch it for more floor space (a frame, lean to, plow point) when it isn't supposed to be windy. And it's lighter/smaller.

Single pole, trekking pole, or tippee tents need the same amount of tie outs and fiddling as a tarp. But weigh more and take up more space. I tarp when it's not super windy, and freestanding tent when it is super windy.

Already mentioned by OP in the original post. Ruled out for now until the pole durability issues are sussed out.
I thought issue had been resolved for both alum & Carbon. Dan is usually proactive about any issue.
I’d say contact him if you’re concerned.
It’d be worth the effort. 👍
