Wow, the 0 deg superdown bag weighs about as much as my 0 deg synthetic slick bag and is twice the cost.

Actually half a pound difference, but still......

Just read the specs on the new Kuiu sleeping bags from Kuiu's forum. I sure hope there is an error with the prices?

30ºF Bag
Weight: 1lb 7.5 oz
Price: $450

15ºF Bag
Weight: 1lb 14.7oz
Price: $580

0ºF Bag
Weight: 2lb 7.5oz
Price: $700

Crazy prices! But hey just keep in mind that if KUIU sold to retailers and wasnt direct to consumer we would be looking at mark ups that made the bag about $1200 (<sarcasm). I do love my KUIU clothing but thats wild.

Yes- at least when GoLite decided to sell direct to the customers they did actually sell product at 50% of retail.

Besides with the price on the Sleeping bags- I will stick with companies like WM and FF that have earned a good rep for their bags over time.

As for the tents- " Worlds most advanced ultralight expedition grade tent" - seems like a very bold, and remains to be seen statement.

Tent looks promising... freestanding fairly light stays dry when setup price is not bad.Sleeping bag prices are ridiculous.

Golite merely raised the retail price to make it appear they were selling for half of retail.

Only partially true. Do not know about their other products for sure, but I know their tents were listed for full retail at the stores they sold at. I know that the SL5 really were $600 full retail; and Ponchos really were $100+ etc, etc. And REI and Backcountry gear and all their other dealers did sell their products for retail prices ( if like most products people wanted to pay full price) before they pulled back from their dealers. What is interesting now is they sell at their outlet stores for the same price as online- even though they have more overhead at those stores.

It was only that after GoLite pulled back from the dealers that they acted as if they were selling product for 50% off sale by continuing to list their new prices as a sale price- when that was disingenuous because that was going to be the price from now on. And they continued to do that for a while. Now they merely also list a "compare at" price on their website next to their now direct to customer price.

I am sure that for most companies their price to dealers is right at 50% of the retail price. Dealers have employees and overhead to cover.

Anybody know what the BC sheep auction tag went for? Think it was tonight, Alberta and Montana tomorrow night.

Yeah and nay, there is a term called "keystone" in the retail industry. They were merely a keystone item. Ex. A dealer pays 100 bucks for a tent, they sell it for 200 or 200 for a tent and they sell it for 400. Its the difference between a "map policy" and a "keystone policy" map is a minimum advertised price. Keystone states you sell for double what you paid. In a nutshell.

Thanks DR! Was the SG pic of 2 5100s? One expanded and one compressed?

Bounds, these both look like the new 5100's stood next to each other. The bags laying down are all have front zippers which would make then all Sky bags. Doesn't look like they gave DR the Terminus he asked for to throw in the comparison.

I was going to say that tent shape looks like a Hubba but Aron beat me to it. Part of the reason i dont buy kuiu is his prices are competitive with Sitka but Toray fabric cant touch Gore Tex. Working in the whitewater industry Ive dealt with almost every "waterproof" membrane impregnated fabric and there is absolutely no comparision between Gore and Toray.
