Heading out Saturday for an attempt to get my old man his first stone ram. I'm curious what you guys are packing for lunch grub for the back end (say day 6 through day 10) of a sheep / backpacking hunt. I eat a fair amount of calories ~3500+ per day when I'm backpacking, and am not super concerned about weight (until I have to pack out dad's ram).. Anyways, I normally pack pb, honey and bacon bagels for the first 5 days, then pack extra freeze dried meals for the back end of the trip. But this requires packing for stove fuel. Looking for decent grub other than bars that will keep for 10 days in the backcountry. Tough order I know, but temps will be cooler as this is a mid sept Northern BC hunt. Appreciate any suggestions, for longlasting backpacking lunches in particular.

Cheers

For lunch I often eat hard salami slices or peperoni slices and string cheese. Most grocery stores sell them. They are high in fat and calories and seem fine w/o refrigeration. I also eat standard trail mix but I always add a bag of peanut M&M's to the mix. Good luck on the hunt.

Thanks fellas!

salami and ritz crackers looks awesome decker. maybe not lightweight but who cares I'll be on vacation have to eat good haha. temps will be cooler than early season so not too worried about spoilage
