Nothin but work this season! Got a nice ram on day 5 or 6 after miles and hours behind us. Not many legals to choose from, but this one finally bedded down long enough for a reach out with my Weatherby Vanguard .300 afixed with Vortex scope:

First hunt with the rifle Weatherby sent me, and I am now a huge fan of Vortex optics.

Wasn't a bruiser, but it sure was clean for photos. It's nice when the blood stays inside the cavity, right?

Got a griz on the next hunt, but caribou were scarce this year the weeks we spent up North. Not a big bear, but there are so many predators in some drainages that any bear taken is one less to kill 'bou.

Oh yeah, used our new BOMB pack TAG Bags on the sheep. Man, at 10-oz per set I was really thankful to shave the weight of our 24X44 bag set. Saved me 55% of the weight, and had plenty of bag space for a boned out sheep.

Aron, thanks for the Timberline pack, too brother. I love this pack. Comfy on the back and holds a lot of gear and my critters. Also, thanks for the hook up with Vortex. Great combo this year!

Sheep country was sweet, saw over 50 rams but only three legals the whole time. Looks like the area needs a couple years of being left alone for the others to grow up a bit.

Took us about 3 hours of glassing to make sure mine was legal. Still, digiscoping sheep from a distance always leaves you guessing and hoping your target is legal when the ram is on the fence. Mine was bedded at 240 yards for hours, but finally agreed it was G to G.

Not sure about you folks, but the trigger pull on a legal ram (unless it's obvious) is always a bit nerve racking!

Peace out

Nice job Larry...got to float my ram out in a Big Rig...pics/video to come on that as the season slows down (you know the drill) I will say that one BOMB bag holds exactly one large moose backstrap if you stuff it in there....Backstrap Only Meat Bags....we were on a sheep hunt and shot a moose so was working with what I had ;)

Great field photos of the ram, can't see the rest of them though. The vortex scopes are great, got a 4-16x44 HS perched on my tikka T3 lite. The clarity and light transmission is top notch.

Way to go Larry. Nice ram. I can't see the other pics either, but congrats on the bear too. Sounds like you had a good time, that is a dream hunt for me.

Very jealous! I did some guided float trips in an area where the Caribou have been all but wiped out by bear. My brother and I did a bou hunt there. In an 8 day hunt we saw a total of about 26 Caribou and over 50 different brown bears. I believe they have now shut down the bou hunt. I wish I was a resident. I ahve a score to settle with a bear up there.

The BOMB Bags actually hold whole sheep quarters surprisingly well. I quartered mine out on the hillside then dealt with boning them out on nice flat ground. Think I had maybe two inches sticking out of the bag, but all in all I was very happy with the BOMB bags.
