Sheds.

No sheds yet, but I did find this deadhead when scouting a new spot i've had eyes on for years. Needless to say I put up 4 cams couple weeks later lol. Exceptional Mass on the bases. Last pic you can see the size of the pedicles next to a Buck I took last year (probably have to zoom in a bit). I have already learned exactly how I will hunt this place after only spending 2 days there, couple very good set ups I have found. If there are some nice 4x4s with his bases around i'll be pretty happy to get a shot.

Those are some heavy bases. Cool find. Hopefully your cams aren’t fully of cat pictures.

Found this old crusty forky at work today. Pretty cool kicker coming off the backView attachment 1051977View attachment 1051978View attachment 1051979View attachment 1051981
What do you do for work? I worked on a survey crew for a year and change out of high school and picked up the only two BT sheds I’ve ever found.
We saw some dandy bucks and bulls. I got to see the whole process from staking clearing limits on raw land all the way to putting brass in finished streets on the same site months later.
None of it ever seemed to interrupt the deers day to day. At least not until houses started going up.

Was going to ask if he is a logger

I’m a forester. I’ve done land surveying when we had an in-house survey crew. Blacktail sheds are definitely tough to find on the coast.

I cant drink that many energy drinks😂 I just get the brunt of their frustration.

Okay figured somethin to do in Forestry. I'd imagine land surveying a guy would find some stuff forusre. Up here there are some wintering areas where Blacktails do congregate in greater numbers (I don't hunt them but have plans to do some scouting), but most of the mountains they just adjust elevation as needed year to year, this is what happens in all of my current main BT spots so the sheds are definitely hard to come by.

N Lol!

I found these at work yesterday. In an area in between reedsport and elkton, OR. They look a lot like whitetail antlers to me, there are Columbia whitetail in the Umpqua valley, about 40 miles away. I've asked a couple friends and opinions are split on if these are blacktail or whitetail sheds. Thoughts?PXL_20260416_230125881.MP.jpg

I’ve been seeing bucks running around with one antler or flat topped for a bit. Let’s see those blacktail sheds. Here’s some older ones.

Nice!

Ask odfw. They'll tell you the truth..

I'm leaning blacktail though
I actually did this and spoke to a biologist who said he couldn't call it one way or the other. But that it also might be a hybrid. Had no idea they could interbreed.
