Day two and the Bears ate Doug...?

Guessing the lake was a no service zone...?

I am just getting some service back up high. No service down low. The full moon has been ugly.

Camped at the lake Saturday and saw one little buck and a doe that evening and Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon I moved camp back up high? But not high enough for cell service. This area was pretty close to where I saw the three bucks Saturday morning.

So that last pic was where I was Sunday evening and I didn’t see an animal. So Monday morning I packed up and headed to another area.

First thing this morning I passed on two small bucks at 42 and 48 yards. Just not wanting to kill a small one at this stage in life.

I am just about out of good. Have one dinner and one breakfast left, not even any snacks left.

Deer bed turned into my bed.

Careful of ticks when taking over an animals bed.
During a zone archery I sat in a bed to glass for a few minutes. Picked up an adult form Pajahuello tick. Sucker bit me at my waistline. Was as big as a raisin and looked just like a piece of dirt. Nastiest thing I've ever had on me.

Well that bed didn’t last long, I covered up an any hole and it only took them about 15 minutes to undig and take it back over.

Nothing left but the walk out. The only truly good thing was the giant I saw Friday night. That tells me they are still out there.

Now I have to decide o. Opening rifle here in CA or over the counter archery elk in CO.

When I hiked a section of the PCT when I was younger we set up camp in the dark and it was right on an ant hole and we woke up 6 hours later to the inside and outside of the tent covered in ants and our packs just covered. When we got back to town in the morning we sprayed everything with ant spray and dumped out tablespoons of ants from our boots and packs. Now I’m always on the look out for those little guys.

This was an exceptional year for ants, most I have seen in a long time.

Sounds pretty consistent with what I saw in the D zones this last weekend. Full moon had most the deer heading to bed between 6-7 with one buck always moving around 9-9:30. Great write up, one of these days I’ll make it to the B zones.

And the optics, which for me and my opinion can’t get any better for a back pack type hunt. 9# 6 ounces, but it can save me miles on my feet to avoid hiking over to a buck I can determine isn’t a shooter from where I sit.

thats a lot of glass for an area where you cannot see more than 50 feet in any direction

i know it is different in some areas up high... so i am only sort of kidding. I am curious how much use you actually go out of the spotting scope.
