Are there any good non-custom hunting rifles (looking at “semi-custom” range) that have an adjustable comb? Everything I can find that has an adjustable comb is more geared toward the range - they are just heavy. About the lightest I’ve found is 8lbs for the bare rifle (I think it was a bergara). I’ve used the aftermarket kits, both the “strap ons” and the drill-through-the -stock types. I’m in the market for a new rifle and looking at a build or a semi-custom rifle. I can’t afford a full custom.

Browning X-bolt western hunter. My cousin has one.
I’ve got an X-Bolt Speed. I’m actually selling it to get something else. Just not a huge fan. It’s a fine rifle, but it has a ceiling and I don’t shoot it as well as my other rifle.

I have a bell and carlson long range sporter on my t1x, used to be on a t3x. Very happy with it. Adds some weight, but I much prefer it over a factory stock with those chincy feeling and looking kydex peices.

Joe Ducos aka Stockdoc can modify many stocks to add KMW Terry Cross hardware to make it adjustable. Adds ~5oz.
Now I’m wondering if I should stick with my rifle. I’ve got a Tikka 7mm with a B&C sported, APR brake, bedded, etc. it’s a shooter. If I can have the KMW added to the stock, that gives the rifle a second life. The barrel is about to be shot out. I think I’ve got 700-800 rounds through it. Perhaps I can rebarrel it and have some work done o the action.

I have 2 HS Precision stocks that have the Joe Ducos (Stock Doc) adjustable comb. He does awesome work and this really improves the fit of the stock. I highly recommend him

If you have a Tikka right now, you have a great starting piece to a fantastic semi-custom. There are plenty of aftermarket stock options that might be an improvement to you over the B&C stock if you don’t want to simply add the cheek riser. You can get a great variety of prefitted barrels to screw on as well.

Save your money and build a custom. Took me 2 years to save for mine but I did it and will never go back.

The Sako 85 Finnlight II is fairly lightweight and its stock has an adjustable comb but it is pretty pricey for a factory rifle.

If you’re looking to swap the barrel I’ve got the Tikka action wrench and go/no go gauges for a DIY swap on a belted magnum. You’re welcome to borrow them.

Thank you! I’m debating it…. The barrel is still good, but I’ve been putting time in at Peacemaker and it’s not going to last another year

I think i prefer this to a stock pack, haven't used it enough to be certain. Main thing i don't like about either is they hold moisture/snow and most of my rifle hunting seems to happen with snow on the ground.

I’ve used things like that. Not a huge fan. I prefer the kydex over the foam cordura ones. I’d like to get a stock that is purpose built for an adjustable comb, though. Or possibly have my current stock modified.
