My favourite forum thread of all time is the Semi-Custom Tikka thread on rokslide. Over the last 2 years I would estimate I've browsed through every page of the thread at least once a week. It's incredible, and has inspired three different semi-custom tikka builds.

However, there's a need that we need to fill here and that is for Semi-Custom Howas.

What’d that build weigh in the Krg? Im considering doing a 223 short action build on one.

Brux #4 fluted 1/10 twist 24"
APA brake
HS precision stock
Action trued.
It likes the 208 eldm with h1000 the best. But I've also done load devlopment with the 215 berger and 190 lrab
The longest kill shot with this gun was 680 yards.

Does anyone know the weight of the Howa Barreled actions? Brownells website is hit or miss with specs, but I've read the 6.5prc barreled action as well as the 7mm RM is over 6lbs. Is that possible? That's about 2 extra pounds heavier then the average barreled action that I've weighed.

I know Howas and Vanguards are on the heavy side but it would seem you would be over 10lb minimum on a full rifle which is excessive for a hunting rifle. I'd love to put one together but that's my only set back.

Ive got a howa 243 sporter barrel in a weatherby sythetic rubberized stock hinged bottom metal w/ a Tract toric, it weighs in at 8lbs 4 oz

Have built a few in Custom or Semi-Custom Howa 1500’s in 243 Ackley Improved, 22 Creedmoor, and two in 284 Winchester. All the actions have been trued, bolt faces are bushed with smaller firing pins, and cerakoted flat black.

Anyone looking for a custom Howa 1500? Also have a fresh action that just got everything bone but cerakote that I’d be willing to sell

Sweet build! How’s the 1:8 6mm caliber shoot?

Has been excellent, 30gr of AR2208 with any 105-108gr projectile and it shoots same POI with exceptional results. It's been so easy to work with.
