Selling to a FFL Dealer

I have read the post on this forum for sending rifles. I want to sell a rifle to an FFL dealer out of my state of Maine. He is located in Georgia. Can I send it directly to him or do I have to go to an FFL dealer and the FFL dealer will send it to him that being the dealer buyer in Georgia. I just want to make sure what I am doing is correct thank you.

I would be sending the Rifle through FedEx or USPS

Legally you can. Some FFL won’t take a transfer from an out of state non-FFL so you need to inquire with the FFL you are sending to.

I sold a gun this weekend in the same scenario. Pretty simple process, they just needed a copy of my DL.

If you are sending to California, it has to go from FFL to FFL (for compliance with California laws). For other states, there aren’t legal requirements dictating FFL to FFL, but some dealers will only receive from an FFL. I recommend avoiding those dealers. As long as you follow the USPS regulations and don’t pick an overly large box, shipping via USPS isn’t too terribly expensive or difficult.
