Seekins opinions?

Thanks for the comments. Yes, there are a few height adjustments for the cheek piece. The arca mount is solid. Sits firmly in my arca head on the tripod. The folding mechanism is beastly. Very pleased with it. Not flimsy at all. The rifle is quite deceiving due to its smaller size and minimal weight. When I first handled it, felt like it was fake or a toy replica. But when you starting poking around all the materials, it is built like a tank. Same with the trigger guard.

Here's the cheek piece adjustment from the manual. BTW, the manual is only ~ 13 pages if I recall. A few sentences and a picture on each page. About as simple as it gets.

I’m glad you posted about the cheek comb adjusted I had questions about the adjustments. I’m even more stoked for mine when ever it shows up hopefully next couple of weeks. I’m waiting to measure mine folded I really want to put it a very compact hard case.

Thanks for the info, and what a nice rifle. I have a couple questions.
Does it have any adjustment, height or angle, at the cheek riser?
What do you think of the little arca mount in front of the mag?
Folding mechanism seems robust?

I was seriously considering pre-ordering one, but decided I didn't want to wait so long. They also did mention about making this chassis for a Tikka, so that's potentially another option for us after they catch up to existing rifle demand. EuroOptic shows that chassis price to be about $1k, and it appears to check a lot of boxes for me.
Did Seekins say they were going to make this chassis for tikka? If so that would be exciting for tikka folks but frustrating for those of us who have older Seekins models that this won’t fit.

Yes it was stated that they EVENTUALLY will make the chassis for a tikka that can be purchased.

My last time in scheels I doddled with some of the havaks on the rack. The first Element m3 i picked up and racked the bolt on the bolt slid right out the back of the action😂 Bolt release button was not pressed, it just had something faulty with the bolt or bolt stop and came out of the action. Repeated after putting the bolt back in. Not a good look. Another sign to me to avoid the element models.

It does seem they toned down the palm swell a bit on the stocks. I was a fan of the PH2 stocks but i like the grip better yet on these.

I picked up my PH3 22” in 7prc today. After owning the element and selling to a friend, I can say that the changes they’ve made make the rifle nicer. The cheek piece riser is very nice and worth the extra weight in my opinion. The bolt throw is super easy and even on lubricated it’s very smooth compared to my element.

I’m not going to hand load for this one right off the bat because I wanna make sure I can get factory ammo that performs well so I always have an option to just get ammo

I’ve shot my PH2 in 300 win mag at several elk. It feeds fast and positively enough that it never jams and I don’t even notice it.

As for accuracy, it pretty much eats anything within reason.
Conrad do you hand load for your 300 WM? I have PH2 my favortie load i have made is 220grn Hornady eldx with 72 grains of 4831SC.

Yes I do.

Current loads:
H1000 - Fed Brass - FGM mag primers
175 LRX AT 80.5 grains (3066 FPS)
200 AB - 77.5 grains (2930 FPS)

Both these loads shoot great in all my 300 WM guns (Seekins, Sendero and Finnlight).

I’m tempted to move up to 212 ELDX. They shot real good too.

What MV are you getting with 220 ELDX??

The Seekins actions (both ph2 and ph3 ) slick up after break in.
I noticed the same thing with the 2 in 7 prc

Less than 50 rounds and it’s smooth and flawless.

The ph3 smoothed out inside of the first 30 rounds. It hasn’t even been cleaned yet aside from a bore snake after 20 rounds.

They are very different internally, but both feed very well when loaded.

Follow-up

Both my ph 2 and 3 are well under 1 MOA with factory ammo.

The 3 is 70-80 rounds in and absolutely shooting 1/2 MOA with Hornady black 105’s and Fed 107 MK

For under $2000 I can’t imagine a better rifle than the PH3

With a 20” tube it’s on the heavy side of a light weight mountain rifle, 7.4 pounds.
With a 5-25x 50 target scope it feels as light as my standard woods guns, much more balanced and much faster to get into than most guns.

It’s as fun to shoot as my 26” custom r700, but 3 pounds lighter.

That’s exactly what it is. People on the internet complaining just to complain. If you don’t want a Seekins rifle, fine. Why make stuff up though. I don’t get it.

If the bolt on a Seekins rifles causes you to have problems like double feeding etc to a point t you don’t find it usable, you likely don’t have the skill you think you do.

All these guys thinking they are great shooters yet they can’t deal with a rifle bolt that isn’t perfectly smooth. Just like the guys who swear they are excellent fly fishermen but then they can’t cast a line with some rods.

I have had multiple clients in the boat that couldn’t cast my boat rods like they could their H3’s

Bah Ha Ha Ha…
That’s a pretty good comparison.

My best casting rods are the ones I keep really high end lines on.

The element is great! I think it’s worth the money for sure. Really depends on what hunting you are doing. I have a ph2 and an element I have yet to take the ph2 hunting. The new seekins are amazing to the changes are out standing IMO only thing I’m not a fan of was the ADJ cheek on the element an that’s just due to the extra weight it added

Since I started this thread my son purchased a PH2 in 6.5 PRC and I grabbed a PH3 in 300 Win Mag. I would have to say that the store stickiness went away once we cleaned the bolt and oiled it. It's probably the smoothest, tight action I've ever felt. It's like glass, but doesn't have any slop... And they're a pleasure to shoot. Haven't been able to take either one hunting yet, but they both handle the recoil well on the range. The 300 WM really didn't have much recoil at all, which surprised me!

Anyways, I'm totally sold on Seekins!
