The federal 130 terminal ascent has been money in my Seekins element.

Very accurate, great speeds (2950 in a 21" barrel) and had good performance on my buck this year.

Recommend you try it!

Took the gun out this weekend and put the first 40 shots through it. Gathered speeds for each shot as I like to look at data. First 17 shots I was having issues with the chrono and was unable to gather speeds. I have the cheap Prochrono so take the speeds with a grain of salt, they seem to be pretty dang low. Anyway anyone who likes to check out data here it is! I will update this thread once I shoot other types of ammo, and compare speeds to a known good chrono. I am also interested to watch the barrel 'speed up' so taking data every shot will be neat to look back on.

No worries I was just curious. I agree with the velocity seeming low....
Does seem a bit slow. I'm getting around 2870fps with the same rifle and factory 147 eldm.

To the OP, did you see any difference in groupings between the two? Mine shoots them about identically

Factory PH with no muzzle device for my 6.5 PRC element is 2865 fps. That is using a Labradar and an average of about 20 rounds. I have approximately 100 rounds down the pipe.

OP, I'm curious what you've landed on for ammo if you're still shooting the Seekins? I'm picking up a PH2 and have heard good things about ELD-M and Bergers in other threads as well.

I shot the ELD-M, ELD-X, LRX, CX, and E-Tip and the best groups were:
1. ELD-M by quite a ways
2. LRX
3. All other 3 were similar

I'm hunting with the ELD-M this year.

Sweet. I’m thinking I’m gonna pick up some ELD-M, -X, and Berger 156 and see how they do.

I have my newest rifle on order. I do not reload (yet) so those of you with a Seekins, tell me what factory ammo you use that shoots the best. I switched to copper bullets a few years ago, NOT for any hippy California Condor reasons as my buddies like to berate me for, but because the meat loss from blood shot when my aim is not perfect and creeps into the shoulder has been fantastic compared to lead core bullets I've used in the past. I bought some Nosler 120 gr E-tip, Barnes 127 gr LRX and Hornady 130 gr CX to test out when the rifle get here, but am open to others. Now is also the time to sell me on why the 143 ELD-X is the best thing to happen to the modern world as I am possibly open to trying that or others.
Your rifle is an individual. One seekins may like Hornady, the next might not. Just gotta figure out what your individual rifle likes

I did not have time to handload before my Axis hunt 3 weeks ago so I used the 147ELDM. That is the best grouping factory load I have tried in my Tikka. This is just a sample of one but I shot a good Axis buck in the shoulder quartering slightly toward me. The bullet destryed the lungs and was under the skin on the other side. He went straight down and tried to get up once but could not, it was about 200 yds.
Perfect performance! They run 2820 0ut of my Roughtech.
BTW, I have a PH2 in 300WM, fantastic rifle!
