Seekins Chassis now available

I'm going to get my ph2 6 creed cut down to 18" and likely put it in one of these for my wife. I'm not sure that'll happen this year but looks like a decent option. Still well below the price of a HNT26 or XLR lightweight set up.

Just had a great conversation with Jordan at Seekins. The pre-order timeframe for these will likely be 2-3 months. More information will be getting published as they get closer to being available.

For Tikkas specifically these will all be AICS compatible with metal mags. No tikka factory mag compatibilty. He said the polymers will not work but Accurate mag, MDT and of course AI metals all will.

Additionally for the 6.5PRC/300 WSM/6.8 Western enjoyers the short action MDT metal 6.5 PRC mags should work in the short action chassis for Tikkas as well.

I shot an Element Hunter with this chassis a few days ago and it was very easy and comfortable to get behind. I'm really looking forward to putting a T3x lite roughtech in 6.5 PRC in one of these and having what I think will be a pretty awesome combo for hunting/NRL hunter for like ~2k

Also COAL for the long actions will be 3.56 if I am remembering from our conversation correctly

Built in arca would have been a good selling point. M lok on the bottom means you can add one but it will come with a weight penalty. That being said, 35 ounces isn't terrible at all, basically the same as my manners PH with hunter bottom metal and mini chassis.

I’m guessing by polymer mags they are talking magpul mags? Poly mdt ones seem to work in most where the magpul ones don’t.

Edit: @bojangles808 and @HuntHarder - i really doubt they designed a bottom metal that doesn't work with plastic mags for tikkas but does with m700 patterns. My understanding is the conflict is with tikka action body not having clearance for the thick lips on magpul ai pattern mags and seekins is possibly not caught up to that not being a problem with MDT polymer mags? XLR and KRG used to say the same thing but lots of people do fine with MDT plastic mags in their tikka chassis.

Anyone know if Seekins carbon fiber mags will work in the SA?

I own an M3 Slam and previously also owned an M2 Slam, which is essentially the same chassis. My thoughts for those interested.

For me, the Slam/Hunter chassis is the ultralight hunting best chassis available today from the folder through the fore-end amongst the more mainstream options. I'm not including the Endex or some of those more niche ones as I've never used them.
  • The folder is stiff, locks into place with absolutely zero wiggle, and folds down tightly over the action bolt.
  • The chassis doesn't feel like a competitive chassis slimmed down for hunting purposes. It feels like a hunting stock, thinner and of more traditional shape than the Element and HNT 26, free of snag points, and long and flat on the forend.
  • I love that the Arca plate isn't built into the forend. The built in M-Lok rail is great and has allowed for lots of adjustibility. I'm running mine with an arca plate near the magazine, an MDT 6oz weight in the middle, and a bipod rail on the front.
The Slam/Hunter butt stock isn't my favorite but Seekins seems to be addressing my current (minor) gripes as follows.
  • Seekins launched a bag rider yesterday alongside the Hunter Chassis, and my understanding is that any new Slams, Element Hunters, or standalone Hunter Chassis sold will include the bag rider. The chassis needs this as their is little area for your rear rest without it
  • The recoil pad bolt attachement is unique and proprietary, and I've had trouble figuring out a way to adjust the recoil pad up (to get it closer to center bore in efforts to mitigate muzzle rise). Seekins acknowleded they will look into a version of their HIT adjustible pad. In the meantime, a company named Jones Stock Adjuster has a solution available today for ~$100 that adds 3 ounces and seems pretty nice. May be worth it depending on what caliber you plan to run in it.
  • Lack of a true thumb shelf.
