Anyone use Seek Outside Packs

Yeah lol. Lots of people. They're great. They are certainly in the top tier. You see less about them these days after their owner got called out for posting liberal stuff on social media. But no one else makes a pack like theirs.

I have both a Seek Outside tent and backpack and they are both extremely well made and comfortable. Highly recommend anything made by them. Top quality stuff. I have a Goshawk with a Merlin and I use it for both hunting and backpacking.

I like mine, it’s a Lanner 5400 in Ultra.
The frame is comfortable, I like the pack layout.

That said I am definitely going to try an Exo K4 next, I tried someone else’s on, and I liked the belt a lot more.

I’ve got one, super nice pack. Mine is the Goshawk 4800 2.0. Really like it for hunting in the wet and with/out of a packraft. I love the stretch side pockets and the talon for gear access. The waterproof Ultra fabrics are sweet as well.

Carried some really heavy loads with it this year so far. Carried better than my stone glacier with 100 pounds. I was impressed.

Do wish the hip belt was a little more padded and lumbar pad was more supportive. The K4 does win in that category which is huge. I wish, so badly, that Seek Outside would offer a beefier hip belt with more padding and a better lumbar pad. I’d buy that in a heartbeat @RyanSeek43

I've got a Goshawk 1.0 and have been super happy with it. I think it was a demo with a lighter Xpac(X21?) fabric and I've put a few holes in that but they've all been small and I knew that was likely to happen with the thinner fabric. The frame has carried well enough for me with multiple 100 lb pack outs. I'm keen to try some other packs but much prefer the simplicity of one big pocket vs some of my buddies Mystery Ranch packs.

I had a hipbelt from an early model Unaweep that I bought probably 10 years ago and foolishly sold when I needed the cash. I believe that SO used to use dual density foam and no longer does (I could be wrong on that).

I still think the Seek Outside design is an all time classic in spite of smaller details that I don't prefer.

I have the Goshawk 4800 2.0 and an old Fortress pack too. Both are very light, waterproof with the right fabric, and extremely versatile. Highly recommend.

Youd need to like the one bag approach too - without any premade compartments. You can use their lightweight pouches, lids, and talons on the packs. Its more customizable but takes time to setup to your liking

I have been wanting to try one out but never see much for reviews on the hunting side of it. Only for backpacking and day hiking and the tents. Always good except the political thing I see on here from time to time and I have no idea what that was even about or what was said. I went with an EXO to try this season. I like it but I'm not in love with it as I still prefer the fit of my old Stone Glacier more. I was thinking Seek could be a good balance and also use it a lot for year round backpacking as well but again, just never see much on them.

I have used the SO revolution frame for several years and love it! I've tried a couple of their bags (brooks and one other I can't remember the name) but never really liked the one big bag concept or the fabric. I now use a Kuiu 4000 bag on the revolution frame and love the combo. Obviously took some time and tinkering to get it dialed, but it fits my needs perfectly. The frame is great for packing meat. I like having the ability to make a trip with meat directly from the kill rather than walking out with no meat to get a dedicated frame pack.

I've used one for years.
My hunting partners also bought some after trying mine.
My 7000 weighs less that 4 lbs and has been great on many hunts.
Collapses down to ~3000 for day hunt use.

Only complaint is the belt and lumbar.
I wish it had more cushion and padding like a Exo K4.
When loads get above 60 lbs its not very comfortable for a leaner person.

I like my lanner 5400 (old style). The frame is solid and it carries weight well. I don't love the waist belt with the gatekeepers and points to tighten it, but I think they at least changed the latter on newer versions.

One of the big selling points when I got it was the highly water resistant bag. I think they've been using different materials lately though.

I had a peregrine, and I wanted to like it, it was a killer pack, but was punishing with over 80#. I could not get it comfortable under load, I roughed it out through several pack outs but it wasn’t happening, tried the lumbar pad, no pad, and everything I could think of, and it was just not good for me

Most people seem to like them, I am likely an outlier. I liked the design and weight, and the peregrine was a very versatile bag for me, but I had a couple of my most painful pack outs with it

I've had one on my back for the last 4 years. I did a custom order when they were offering them and have a 5400 ci breakaway pack. It's been really comfortable up to about 80 pounds, and I haven't had more than that in it.

I've looked at other bags, but this compresses down so well for day trips that I haven't found a need for anything else. I don't mind the gatekeeper straps and like the flexibility they offer.

Been using the revolution frame and custom bag for 6 years now. It's all I use for hunting and I just ordered another custom 7000 bag just in case this bag gets lost/destroyed etc. Two is one, one is none!

I've had over 100 lbs in the bag/frame. Can't complain. I hunt in WET environments so the fabric was a big motivator!

I have a Unaweep 4800 that has packed a buck, bull, and bear. Its an internal frame pack and also was the lightest "hunting" pack at the time when I bought it. Its light, comfy, and pretty much waterproof but thats where the positives end. The internal frame packs kind of suck for packing out quarters. You have to empty out your pack and everything gets covered in meat juice. Storage is limited and you have to add the talon and top lid which compromises access to your bag for grabbing the spotter, clothes, etc. Getting to the side zipper is annoying because the zipper is bunched up at the bottom of the pack. Its a great pack but it has quirks.

I also have an older SG Sky with a center zipper and buckels that makes the pack so much easier to access.

They are very good packs. I have two, a custom breakaway and a integrated. I carried over 100 pounds with them and no major complaints.

I find the K4 more comfortable under heavy load and it is what goes in the field with me even though it is heavier. That is more a personal preference than anything else, kind of like quilts vs sleeping bags.

I have 3 SO shelters, and had a Silvertip at one point as well. All have been excellent.
