Cant wait to see the specs and price. Obviously not going to buck the wind like a tipi or mid but that usable space is ridiculous!

That is a spectacular idea.....I am going to build something like that this year as I'm tired of packing in a big canvas tent and my other tents are too small.

I think i'm going to make the roof pitch less than that with higher walls....

Let me know when you get it perfected, under 4lbs, big enough for two big guys with a stove and wood and everything else, and under $400.;)

Mine; Weight isn't an issue as we tow a couple horses with pack saddles into the backcountry- this will be lighter and more compact than my 25# Cabelas or 36# canvas herder tent

i'm putting together a matl list and you will be the first to see it Mike!

I can't understand why the tipi manufacturers don't add short sidewalls to their tipis. This would give a wall tent feel in low wind conditions but could still be pitched as a standard tipi in high wind conditions

Interesting. I'm looking at dumping my AO igloo( not pleased with durability). That might be the ticket.

If I was going to design one or make one from scratch, I would do a pyramid with walls. Even an extra 12" of wall on the bottom would create a lot more usable space for me. I'd also sew a screen into that same 12" so I could raise the silnylon up for ventilation and still have the screen staked tightly to the ground.

Planning on building a pyramid with 2' vertical walls this winter.
Bearpaw quoted me $850 for a custom build, if I can't pull it off on my own that's an option.

Interesting... What size are you looking at building? What size did you inquire about having built by bearpaw?

I would think wind would be a serious issue with this design

10x10. He did come down a little on price. But I sew other gear and Mrs406 basically scoffed at the price and said "you could just build that" so the gauntlet was down.
