Seek Outside Eolus with Stove?

Considering an Eolus but not seeing many reviews or threads mentioning a stove. Not really a big deal but would be nice to know if it could or couldn’t be done later if I wanted to go that route.

seems like if you can run a silex with a stone you might do the same with the Eolus?

I woul think that the height off the ground would be controlled by the height you set the trekking poles at for the pitch not by the design......I wondered why there was no stove jack option also.

In reality I'm not doing many solo late season trips (if any) for awhile so the tent would be almost entirely early season use. Mostly just 1-2 night spike camp type stuff from the truck if we're getting into elk and don't want to hike out and back.

For that kind of usage I don't think the stove is a big deal (as I'd want a larger tent for 2 people + stove later in the season), but figured I'd ask.

I thought I had seen the guys from SO comment that the slope of the walls on the Eolus didn't give enough clearance around the stove pipe for them to feel good about not setting the tarp on fire, but it works in the Silex.

I also think I've seen one or two people on here talk about putting a stove jack in the Eolus themselves.

It seems like it would be a really tight fit, especially when you need to store all the wood you plan on burning. Those stoves need to be fed pretty often to keep them going. It might be possible but I don’t think it’d be a good idea.

On the Eolus a jack in the door gets pretty tight, plus it pitches off the ground...that dings it as a hot tent. We've talked about putting a jack inboard of the pole but that would preclude nest use and make it a solo hot tent. We may end up filling the UL two person hot tent spot with a new design, but it won't be soon.

Got it setup for the first time today. 3x and I had it half decent. It seems like having the stakes square makes a huge difference in getting a tight pitch.

It does seem a little small for a stove and if you put it inboard of the poles it'd be a 1 person tent.

I still can't figure out how the doors stay down though. The line locs on one door are back to back, and on the other they are sewn on the loop facing the same direction. The back to back ones give a little tension but as soon as the line shakes a bit they pop off. The other side must require a degree in knot tying to figure out... Will give SO a call tomorrow and I'm sure they can walk me through it.

Seems plenty spacious for 2 people (although I'd be tempted to turn longways in it since we wouldn't have much gear.
