Will the Cimarron accommodate a person who is 6'6", and will the Cimarron accommodate a person who is 6'6", one additional adult, a lightweight stove, and gear? I have yet to receive a conclusive answer to this question, which probably means I have my answer.

A lot will depend on how you set it up and the weather conditions. Pitched down super tight, I think a tall person might still fit right next to the pole but it definitely would be fairly cramped. However, if you add some tensioners and pitch it off the ground a bit, you can have all sorts of room in there. Besides, you will usually want to have a gap at the bottom to allow for ventilation to reduce condensation. As a reference, we often run a 2P nest on one side of the Cimarron that is 80" x 50" and we have always had room.

My sheep partner and I are both 6'3 and have no issue.

Yeah, if each person sleeps "lengthwise", which gives each their own door, then there should be plenty of room. Here is a photo of our recent setup with the nest in the "end" of the Cimarron. As a reference, the sleeping pads are Large Thermarest XLite/Xtherm pads.

Is that nest from Seekoutside or a different company?

That one is from BearPaw. It is borrowed and I am thinking about picking up one from SO though.

Ah. well here's where I stand so maybe it will help you as well. A regular bug nest is fine though I wish I could find one that filled the Cimarron's shape a little better as there is always a lot of wasted space with a rectangle nest in there. Also, I'm looking at the SO Cougar nest due to it's solid walls. I like pitching the Cimarron up off the ground for more space and ventilation. However, this does allow in some drafts. I like the SO nest as it will help cut some of those drafts by acting as a wind block and it will also shed any dripping condensation a little better than bug netting.

Thank you for the responses. It is hard to know exactly how things will work without being able to see these in person. On paper, the Cimarron seems like it will work, but I have learned that there is typically a big difference between claimed space and useable space.

Timberghost: Do you and your partner use a stove in the Cimarron as well?

Check out the Bearpaw bug net with the pole. It is small enough and doesn't take up much room, and can be set up anywhere in the shelter, but big enough to not be too claustrophobic. I use one in my Sawtooth.

I only use it when the wife is coming along otherwise I usually use a TiGoat Raven bivy. My wife and I plan on heading out on a couple over nighters with the kiddo so those 2 will sleep in the nest and I will probably sleep outside the nest like I'm used to. Real curious to see how backpacking with an 18 month old is going to go....

That's a little wider and a bit longer than yours.

thanks for the info

reason i am asking
i was thinking about getting the luna 6 full nest, but if i do that it doesnt leave any empty space, looking at the pic in your SO CIM the nests looked small enough i could put two nests , one for myself and wife and one for my 2 children and still have room on the open floor
i have the luna 6 with no floor
just wanting bug netting i think, but thought i only need it big enough to sleep in....
it does look like it would be more expensive to have both nests though vs only the full 3/4 1/2 nest they offer for luna 6
maybe i should make a couple nests....

Authentic, yeah we have a large wifi we take along. Have a 6 man tipi that we used. Cimmaron is slightly smaller footprint but doesn't lose as much usable space from the sloping walls of the tipi. If I get a chance I will snap some pics this weekend.
