Seating depth tool

Has anyone tried the Type 1 designs seating depth tool yet?

My 6.5 prc tikka loves the Berger 140g elite hunters and can consistently get 5 shot groups around .5-.75 and 15 shot groups around 1.5-1.75.

It shot Hornadys 143eldx and 147eldm ok, was getting right around 1 inch 5 shot groups with them (haven’t tried a larger shot group).

Although I’m happy with how the 140g Berger did on my recent elk kill I’d like something alittle heavier and trying to keep myself from diving down the expensive rabbit hole of reloading. If I can get a $175 tool to help tighten up the Hornady ammo just alittle bit I’d be happy with it.

After spending the day pouring over Forms post in the reloading forums I’m just gonna shoot a 15-20 rd group of the 143eldx and 147 eldm and see what the larger group sample looks like compared to the 140g bergers.

No I didn’t. I ended up being happy with the bergers.

I’m confused. You want to manipulate seating depth with factory ammo? Is this a thing?

Yep, the thought was adjust seating depth to help try to find the sweet spot for some accuracy improvements without having to go full send into reloading.

I would be skeptical of that tool. I know anytime I have pulled bullets it really messes with the neck tension. If you are pushing it in it is not impactful. I use a Whidden arbor die and will start long and push in to fine tune the seating depth on reloads, but this tool is likely to cause issues based upon what I have seen with my reloads

Thinking outside the box (the box being reloading) and using factory ammunition do we care if neck tension changes if performance is improved by using such a tool? Color me skeptical but if it works for someone by all means go for it.
