search filter for locked threads

Anyone know if there is there any way to prevent closed threads from appearing in search results? This would be useful when searching classifieds where threads are commonly closed to indicate the WTS/WTB item has already been transacted.

That's actually the direction I was going to go. That's what I did for the what's new and latest post css.
