Sealing Carbon Fiber Stock

I have a Howa Superlite with a Stockys carbon fiber stock that needed the barrel channel sanded. Anyone have any recommendations for a carbon fiber sealant? Any tips for application would also be welcome.

Do you need to seal it? I never have. You could mask it off and hit it with some black spray paint I guess, but I always thought that was just an aesthetic thing.

I’ve sanded several carbon stock barrel channels and haven’t sealed after. Maybe incorrectly so, but haven’t had any issues that I know of yet.

Yeah I don't know really. Never worked with carbon fiber before so thought there might of been some sort of sealant I should apply to keep it dry if it got rained on. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

I’ve never had a problem and my stocks get soaking wet frequently.

There's some good stuff on youtube. Mostly auto stuff, but CF is CF.
Thanks! I'll look into that more, I am seeing a lot in terms of automotive treatment. Thinking now just a light spray of paint if anything. Seems like this isn't something I need to worry much about. I might call stockys to see what they say. Will report back if I hear anything

No need to seal the barrel channel after you've sanded it.

You are probably asking about a paint or coating as I think of sealant as a penetrating treatment and I don’t think the carbon fiber epoxy will be porous.

My thoughts are only reason to apply a coating is if you exposed glass fibers and that bothers you. Not likely an issue in the channel. If the grip had exposed glass I’d be coating/painting for sure. Let us know how it goes.
