Scouting Begins 2023

I have a goal to scout 20 days this summer. Today was a great start! I’ll share my progress along the way.

Days 2 & 3 were camera days but day 4 we found another buck to keep an eye on!

What’s the terrain situation? All timber/aspens? Is there still snow at the top they might be migrating into? Would love to get some context for following along!

Scouting & hunting South Eastern Utah from 5,000’ to 10,000’ in elevation, a lot of high desert pinion juniper type country. A lot of mid range with service berry, thick timbered canyons & some aspen, some mid range you can glass sage brush & service berry for miles with deep canyons between ridges. I don’t think I’ll look much above 8,000’ this year. There is still snow but leaving very quickly.

Also I am a Dedicated Hunter so I can hunt Archery, Muzzleloader & Rifle.

Days 5 & 6 were slow, only seeing small bucks. Day 7 I found this buck (forgot phone scope) he is roughly 400 yards away from a camera I have had up for almost a month. I have yet to get him on the trail cam; definitely a buck that I hope I can continue to watch.
