Interestingly, in New Zealand they put a lot of emphasis on the "bases off the skull" aka pedicle height measurement as an inverse relationship to age. IE, an old warrior would have bases right down on the skull and more lateral off the top of the skull. Not an exact science, and they're talking red deer not elk, but they are cousins and I wonder how much it correlates. Would be interesting to know the age.Uh let me check and see if I have pictures even the guy that helped pack it out with me said he's never seen antler bases this far off the skull when we caped it out. I hope I have pictures or he does. Will update if I do!
