Sooo. Shooting my tikka I quickly set up 2 years ago with a basic vortex crossfire I have found scope no longer holding zero. Rifle still holds zero well. Either way, I’m putting the Leupold vx5hd from my ridgeline fft that, for my purposes has been flawless, on the tikka. I will
Be getting the trijiicon Huron 2.5-10x40 for the ridgeline. Now here’s my inquiry, from what I understand, the 30mm being a larger tube is slightly more durable (going on 300wm) allows for more adjustment (which I won’t need) , and in theory allows for more light.
I also believe, that the 1” tube models let in more light already than your eyes can use, if that makes sense. So is the 30mm tube worth it? I do like the power variable of 2.5-10 vs 3-9 but again, in reality am I going to notice .5 magnification.
My hunting is done on the east coast and my furthest shots taken were out to 350.
So why a 30 mm tube over a 1” tube?

The larger tube doesn’t allow for more light. That is a function of the ratio of magnification to objective lens diameter.

As for any other consideration, the only time I pay attention to tube diameter is when I am buying rings. But, because I have so many SWFA scopes, I currently have two 1” tubes (SWFA UL and Trijicon AccuPoint) and eleven 30mm tubes.

Scope manufacturer objectives and design are a far better predictor of durability that the tube diameter. Surely you're aware of the drop tests which plainly show this
