Scope recommendations

Looking to add a scope to my kids ruger American an gen 2 in 223. Some hunting and plinking . I thinking arounddddd the 4-16 power range but open to other opinions.

Not looking to spend more than 350 on this one. What do you recommend ?

This guy has two brand new, of the sold out SWFA Gen 2 Fixed 6x42.

Let’s start the kid off with some good habits and roll with the Fixed 6 And a scope that is bomb proof when mounted properly, with an excellent hunting reticle.

Cleaning out some spare optics this weekend. I’ll start with the easy ones. Here we have four of the legendary SWFA 6x42 milquad riflescopes.

Two used Gen 1 models. Some cosmetic imperfections. Ring marks, turret rash, one has a small scratch on the objective body. See pics. $350ea. shipped.

Two NIB Gen 2 models. Both are now SOLD.

They track well. The one on mine worked great, but I'm replacing it with an SWFA 3-9x HD

For a kid's rifle, it's amazing. I have two on 22lr bolt guns as well. Not "drop test certified" but I got them from CameralandNY for $219 each and they all track perfectly and have held zero.

I've got one on a 22 myself, and it's been great as well.

The SWFA 3-9x was what i was planning to mount on a Ruger Gen 2 Ranch 5.56 i recently picked up but I ended up getting a Tract Response 4-16× demo bargain from SWFA equipped with Impact 5.56/.223 turrets. Will see how that works out, but I think the SWFA 3-9× is a great suggestion.
