Bought the Mountain Ascent

Just a quick tip for anyone that has a Kimber MA,, both mine had the set screw that locks the firing pin come loose. This allows the firing pin to move and can cause misfires. I backed both mine out and added some Lock Tite to the threads and tightened them back up.

Just an FYI

I recently purchased the Mountain Ascent in a 308, I read your reviews and think I found the firing pin set screw. It's the small Allan head screw that is directly on the bottom of the bolt after you open and cock the bolt as if you were going to chamber a round right? I joined this site just to ask you about this! Maybe a picture posted where it is? Thanks for the help! I still haven't fired the gun

Sweet thanks man! That's the one I thought it was. I backed it out by a few threads put a dab of loctite and tightened it back down. Glad I researched the heck out of the gun now!

Just put a Swaro Z6 2.5-15x44 (19.6 oz.) on my Montana. It definitely negates the light weight savings of the rifle quite a bit more then the 3.5 to 10 x 40 VXIII that I used to have on it, but the optics are sooo much better.

I hear ya AK Troutbum..while my .308 win will always likely wear a 3-9X33 Ultralight....I'm going with a VX-6 2-12X42 on my 338-06 Montana build. At 16.8 oz its not lightweight either but hopefully it'll tame the beast a bit cause it still should come in at 6.3 pounds or so all up with that scope on it and be shooting 210-225 bullets at 2600-2750. I think I'll enjoy the more eye relief of the 30mm as well as the big FOV at 2X as well as the 12X when working up loads. We shall see....for $760 I could pass it up. Not near that glass that Z6 has though!
