I'm currently having a strange thing happen with a Vortex Viper 4-12 scope. Last year, 4 animals were shot using the scope (and rifle, .270 Winchester). It was sighted in 2.5" high at 100 yds, for a ~300 yd zero. I took it out to shoot yesterday, and the scope was FEET high at 100 yards. Per my memory, nothing happened from the end of season until yesterday. I maxed out the decline in the MOA, still 5 inches high @ 50 yds. Rifle groups fine, just high with no ability to adjust. I have no idea what is going on, going to contact Vortex tomorrow. Do any of you have any ideas? Thanks

As a guess, the erector system catastrophically failed. They will fix it, and it will happen again.

Check the torque on your rings and base. Wouldn't think it's the scope since it adjusted for you and is holding zero.

Torque on rings and base are good. My feeling is there was some sort of failure with the scope. I'll likely return to Vortex, see what they have to say, I'm fairly curious as to what caused it.
