Are you using this for dangerous game at all?
You can always go with an offset red dot. I am putting my AK gun together - its a browning BAR DBM in 308. I am mounting an NX8 2.5-20 with an offset trijicon red dot.Going to Alaska for Black bear but there is a high population of Brown bear bears n the area. I also thought about a 3-9 and using QD rings to use iron sights if needed.

Alaska has a lot of variety considering terrain and what rifle/scope you want. Ask your guide or Ak pal what works well in your upcoming hunt area. 90% of my bear contacts/kills have been in the brush. Even in the "open" country, there are brushy drainages that attract the bears and other game. Lots of guides use 1.5X5 Leupolds on bear rifles. Whatever you choose, make sure it works with both eyes open and aligns with your eyes naturally when you snap the rifle on target from zero to whatever...once you practice, you may never pull the scope off for the irons. One exception is my "night" rifle for problem bears in camp/home.
