I believe I have narrowed my search down to these two scopes.
Trijicon Accu Point 1-6x24 and
Leupold VX5HD 2-10x42
I will have detachable mounts so I can use the rifle sights if needed.

Are you using this for dangerous game at all?

Going to Alaska for Black bear but there is a high population of Brown bear bears n the area. I also thought about a 3-9 and using QD rings to use iron sights if needed.

You can always go with an offset red dot. I am putting my AK gun together - its a browning BAR DBM in 308. I am mounting an NX8 2.5-20 with an offset trijicon red dot.

In that context, it sounds like the priority would be something rugged, that would be useful in very close-range sudden emergencies, with the realistic shot distances for other hunting you're doing being 200yds, maybe 300 on the far side?

If this is reasonably accurate, a 1-6 or 1-8 Trijicon would be pretty optimal, as long as the forward tube is uniform and doesn't sightly expand like some of them do (it helps with scope ring/scope placement). Maybe a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 on the higher mag side. Nightforce 1-8s don't have enough length on the front of the scope tube in most cases to fit right on a bolt-action gun, without a lot of workarounds. Keep the scope dialed all the way down to lowest setting, and just crank it up only when you're on the rifle for a hunting shot. I wouldn't want to have something with a higher low-end mag range beyond about 2 or 2.5 max, if dangerous game and defense were a notable possibility. 3x on the absolute high-end, if all sorts of other features were in place (reticle, glass, illumination, and ruggedness).

You’ll appreciate good eye relief with any of the 375’s. There are some great peep sights that fit either a pic base or the 3/8” dovetail of the Talley detachable steel rings. When I lived on Kodiak it was a big confidence booster to shoot shotgun hulls at 10 yards with the 375 H&H. At first they were a challenge to do quickly, but shooting just 10 shots each weekend made it easier and much faster, almost like shooting a shotgun. A scope with 1x or 2x on the low end works well up close.

There is a great thread on the Africa hunting sight about best optic for 375. Modern thought is don’t put a lpvo. Something 1.5-10 or 2-12 is plenty at low end but gives you better sight picture and mag if you need it. A bear might be shot at 20 yards. But also might be shot at 200
