School me on MT Shoulder season or Block mgmt...busted archery so have a general tag

My wife is in NYC Dec 5-10 on a church trip. Was thinking it would be a good time to slip back out to MT and try and put some cow elk meat in the freezer. Don't have a clue how all the late seasons work. Units, areas, rules etc
Can anyone help school me or link articles?

And why do you think that? No wrong. If there are remaining tags , they can and will be sold over the counter. Miss information is a bad thing.

He's right... the shoulder tags need to be bought before rifle season starts.

MT FWP does not provide a lot of information for the shoulder season license. I would call FWP in Helena or even better the regional office where you plan to hunt. Last year I bought my license at the FWP office and they handed me a piece of paper loaded with information where and when I could use the license that never was available online or at least I couldn’t find it and I know their website better than most. In region 2 you for sure have to purchase before the start of general season so October 25 at the latest
