School me on meopta riflescopes

Those Meopta MeoPro scopes have been awesome for me so far. Very accurate and reliable tracking on them as well.

The best scope I’ve looked through was a Cabela’s euro scope by far. Now I haven’t looked through swaro or many of the other top brands, but vortex and the Leopoldo I checked were a bit behind them... don’t know about accuracy with turret tracking etc, but glass was amazing. I plan to invest in some MeoptA optics down the road when I need to expand my glassing capabilities.

You do realize that a 4.5-27x is not the same as a fixed 8x56mm, correct? Trying to compare them is pretty asinine.

And V4’s are awesome.... if you like zero shifts from side impacts, zero shifts from vehicle vibration, and intermittent failures to RTZ...

What is your sample quantity on the Zeiss conquest line to form that opinion? I’ve experienced much different results than you with that particular scope, but I only have 3 conquests on 3 different rifles to go off of. Each of those rifles have somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000-15,000 rounds (not a huge amount but more than most guys shoot) and who knows how many hours in the field/truck/atv. They all continue to do very well so far.

What I mean, is that the picture, or the field of view is very narrow. Put up a zeiss V4 or a Schmidt and bender 8 x56 and it leaves the Optika 6 behind. I paid $1075 here in Aust for the Optika, $800 for the zeiss and 1000 for the s&b. The meopros had a better field of view. They were better built. The Optika 6 turret also has a small degree of play in it. Horses for courses. Depends on what one calls acceptable. You will remember what I have just said in 6 months. People here in Aust are beginning to feel the same way. Optika 6 has failed the mark. The Optika is going in the bin!!

I'm not sure why you quoted me. Mine is the Meopta MeoPro 6x42 - German 4

More than a dozen. I do not make declarative statements about something unless I know exactly what the outcome be will. A left of right side impact from dropping the rifle 12” with a V4 or 6 has a better than even chance of shifting zero enough to miss a deers vitals at 400 yards.

You have 15,000 round on 3 different Zeiss V4’s? Without a failure?

I’ve dropped mine in the grass or dirt many times. The most common drop is about 10” side or top impact sliding off the back seat of the truck onto the floor board. Try to avoid any of those drops as much as possible but shit happens. 2 V4’s and 1 V6, zero failures.

Zeiss is one of the few scope companies that actually reliably test their products in decent conditions before they go out. Including a continuous shock/vibration test for 90 minutes through QC.

What is your average number of 12” drops on each scope before “losing zero”? Since you tested with more than a dozen I’d imagine their was some consistency and repeatability? I’d like to avoid that with mine so the data would be great to see.

I agree and understand that they are not the same. Anyone that knows scopes, is well aware that glass makes all the difference. Look through a Swarovski 12 power, it’s like looking through a 18 on a cheaper scope. Field of view and that crispness is what I don’t like on the Optika. For me the bender is all I need. Have a look through the 8 if you already haven’t and you will understand.

I’m not a huge believer in “glass making all the difference”. What makes all the difference for me and guys and gals who come out to learn... We teach being comfortable. Eye relief, length of pull, proper body and eye mechanics, reticle that fits your eye and shooting style, getting focus and parallax worked through, are all things we work on with scopes before worrying about which brand “glass” somebody has.

As a side note... To prove a point to people who have it in their mind that “good glass” is so important, I’ve done several tests over the years. One of them includes blind comparisons of different scopes. It’s simple. Look through several different scopes, all with the same “specs” just different brands. You’d be amazed how high the percentage of guys that can’t pick out which ones are supposed to be the “good glass” and which ones are “cheap glass”.

The meopta meopro line ( older zeiss conquest, meopro, cabelas euro), are hard to beat for glass quality and overall construction.

Zeiss versions are double $ what the cabelas version, for very very similar scope

I have a 4.5-14x50 target model of both and they are identical dimensionally and specs

I know this is an old thread but I think Meopta is a truly under appreciated line of optics. I’d agree the Optika6 is maybe not what it should have been, but the Meopro line is really pretty fantastic. For sure on par with Zeiss V4 in every way.

That’s because Meopta makes the Zeiss V4.

They do? So you are saying Meopta makes the Zeiss V4 in Japan?
Any of the conquest v4 scopes are made by Meopta. They are rebranded MeoPro scopes for Zeiss.

Meopta optics are manufactured in both the Czech Republic and Southwest USA depending on the model.

Says right on the bottom at 3min 48sec in the video. Says made in Japan right on the box too.

Maybe they did both? Japan made some for Zeiss and Meopta as well in Czech? Doubt Meopta would have just made that up.
