Apologies for two threads in the optics section but I am really interested in an S&B Polar after seeing it suggested in my "forever scope" thread below.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the difference between their turrets. I would love an uncluttered basic duplex (ideally with wind marks) illuminated dot and some kind of BDC turrets. There are couple pictures on Eurooptic that show turrets with multiple little grey bits that appear to be similar to the Swarovski system of pre set distances? (Posicon?) They also have what they call BDC (and BDCII) which appears to be a single resettable stop similar to a zero stop but can be programmed for anywhere on the elevation dial?

Just not sure how much to trust advertising photos on a website in terms of what you'll actually receive. Can't find anything on S&Bs website. Is there a US based vendor you could recommend I call and chat with? Thanks so much all.

I have the 4-16x56 posicon. The elevation turret is basically 10 mil of elevation with a throw level that locks it in place. Like it a lot, and it takes some force to throw the level so the likelihood of you hitting or bumping it and moving it is unlikely. It also has zero stop. I hunt hard woods and some shots are closer. So, the 2/10th of a mil below zero allow you to dial for shorter shots. Of just compensate for it.

The posicon turret is on the windage, but you can also get it for elevation / windage as well. Its basically a dial that shows you the position of the range of the turret. As shown, 0 will give you the same range left and right or in the pic shown, up and down. if you get one with both elevation and windage posicon, you could play with 20 moa rail and to move the dial in such a way to maximize elevation. But in that case, the exposed lockable turret would be better.

As you can see, the throw lever is in the front, locked p[osition. In the turret pic above, the lock is on the side, thus allowing for adjustment. Either way, even if the throw lever is moved by you and you forget it, the turret still has zero stop.

Oh and BTW, its the best legal low light scope that my 52 year old eyes have look through and I've looked through a just about all of them except a Hensoldt.

Thank you very much. This is helpful.

Ideally what I would love is a programmable ballistic turret where I could have preset stops for say a zero, plus 3 different distances or something along those lines. That's what the photo above with the grey plastic arrows looks like to me, similar to the Swarovski system with the green, yellow and red etc

Or if they offer a CDS style where you send in all your ballistic info to S&B and they make you a calibrated turret. I feel confident something like this must exist
