Scams in Classifieds.

I appreciate the heads up as a new guy. I buy tons of used gear, and it is always a concern.

I’m here to confront this claim and say that it’s wrong. I can provide any source of proof anyone would like. Please delete this thread saying that I am a scammer. I just sold a Kuiu bino harness to @Agent82 ask for his approval of me being a seller

Beware of Prest0npage here on Rokslide. He is total fraud. Scammed me on the sale of a Kuiu jacket today.

Prest0npage is completely legit and a great guy. I was scammed by someone who contacted me posing as him. It happened because I posted my phone number in my reply to his post. I apologize to Prest0npage and I am thankful that he contacted me directly so we could figure it out.

He provided tracking last friday and the package was dropped off today for shipment. At this time, I don't have any concerns with him trying to scam me. I will update once the package has been received.

I’m not much for posting, but this sounds like a “Man in the Middle” type scam which just happened on another forum I am on, which deals mostly with firearms. I guess this scam is becoming more common.

Lessons I took from that are to only provide telephone numbers in a DM to the cello you are contacting. Beware of Venmo-Zelle payment arrangements. Request date pictures, as this site recommends, and stay on the site for communication. That is don’t switch to text or emails. Oh and if it seems to good to be true….well it probably is.

The scammers are getting pretty creative, but their Photoshop skills aren't that great, fortunately! One tried to fake some seller photos recently on another forum with their username and the date. It was good, but you could still tell.

I won't rely on this as AI gets more accessible every day.

I would Never provide ANY Personal Info but in a Message to the Seller, no Email no Phone Number because that is a "MAGNET" for some. Keep all your Info Private posting anything in an Ad is looking to be Scammed! But some forget because they want that item and want it ASAP... Not all are Honest People!!! And you don't need to be a "member" to View the Ads. Guess some don't reallize that.
