The issue with PayPal is that whether you use F&F or G&S as payment if you have to contest a fraudulent charge and the sense/find out that you purchased anything firearms related ( even a synthetic stock) it is a prohibited item and they’ll either not honor the claim or disable your account or both.

Fraud is fraud, they'll still honor the claim. But like I said, use a CC to back it and if PP doesn't honor it the CC will reverse the charges and PP will close the claim stating it's been refunded.

scammers are bad enough , now you have them being smartasses,, I would have told him to meet me somewhere and would have beat the smart ass out of him.

That bigfoot guy that was hitting people here was pretty entertaining I have to admit.

I bet if you poke around that forum you've posted your phone number somewhere in public. These scammers are building lists of phone numbers/usernames and inserting themselves so when they see somebody post "I'll take it" or whatever they're attempting to insert themselves to take payment. Do a search on that forum for the last 4 of your phone number.

I’m a small FFL and I sell online. I use guntab.com for my sales on gunbroker. It’s an escrow account that holds the buyers money until they receive the item. Like PayPal for gun related sales. It might be a safer option than PayPal because they hold the money in the escrow account until you verify that you have received the item. And it’s made for gun related purchases. Might be a option to explore.

My account got hacked on here about the same time as OP was having trouble. Scammer listed a bunch of high end stuff pretty cheap then hacked into my PMs and even sent my home address to somebody! One person unfortunately paid for an item before I caught it. He gave me his number and we talked and he had been PM’d a pic of an item with that days date and my username. These scammers are getting scary good!

My account got banned for over a week before the mods confirmed all activity then re-opened it. I was strongly urged to do 2 factor authentication (2FA) as soon as I got my account back. Which I did right away.

Ill second the phone call before any purchase suggestion, facetime with item is even better. As for payment method, I dont like any of them but he have to use something on here. Paypal g&s seems to deter most scammers. I even just tell them Ill pay the 3% extra if they insist on F&F. Good luck out there and do you due dilligence!

Pp g&s should be a requirement for all non firearm transactions. It should be in the forums rules with any violation resulting in a ban. This would essentially eliminate the majority of fraud. These practices are common on other non hunting/firearms forums.

Paying the fee sucks but it’s kind of the cost of doing business. Plus the fees are much less than eBay. Since we’re all honorable people, buyer and seller should split the PP fee.

For anything of high value or risky transaction (trades) I’ll always request a phone call. Pretty easy to sus out a scammer as most Roksliders can ramble off random hunting, shooting, and reloading facts.
