This method may have been posted on here before but 1st time it's happened to me.

I sent a PM to a seller about interest in an item. Within 5 minutes I had an unknown phone number text me the following,

"It's (username of member I PM'd) on Rokslide for the (item). Sounds good. Where are you located? How do you make payment? Thank You".

I immediately thought something was up and PM'd the individual again and asked if that was him. He PM'd me back and said it wasn't him and that he had went ahead and changed his password. I also changed mine just in case my account was compromised. Unknown scammer's phone number is 720-599-1229.

I ended up purchasing the item and had a good transaction. Now the scammer is texting me again to see why I hadn't gotten back to him so now I'm messing with him a bit.

I'm not aware of ever posting my phone number on the open chats so have no idea how he got my phone number.

Something to be aware of and always ere on side of caution.

Heres your number

Everyone needs to go search their posts, find and delete your number. Even if you dont think you have ever posted it. You can do this by using the search feature in the top right hand corner.

Thanks for quick search. I've went back and deleted the number and definitely won't use it in open threads going forward.
Be vigilant. I don’t know if scammers keep that information in a database. They very well have it saved and ready to use again.

Same exact thing happened to me on a knife I commented on that id take. Almost immediately I got a text from an unknown number giving me PayPal details but would only take F&F. When I refused to do that they just dropped it. The actual owner of the item messaged me later with the true PayPal and everything. It was weird til I realized what had happened. I hope the scammers get violated by 1000 aids infested dicks

Ditto. Have had same happen.

You both have posted your number multiple times. Go delete it.

That same number jumped between another deal a few days ago. I don’t believe that it is a member at all, just someone watching for victims.
@CorbLand thanks for posting up the search instructions. Two things I want to add to that is for people to also search the last four of your number. The system doesn’t populate for multiple formats of your whole number but will pick a specific number set out of your comments. For example searching “111-333-7777” won’t pull it up if you originally typed it as “(111)-333-7777” but searching “7777” will show up no matter what.
Secondly for anyone who did this prior to the recent site update, do it again. I noticed that the search feature now shows comments you typed on someone’s profile and private messages where it used to only search the public forums.

How did he know you PM’d him? Did you post on the forum that you sent a PM?

That always seems to be the common denominator for these scumbags. Would like to see a story of one actually being caught and prosecuted.

Had that happen to me 2 weeks ago, 1000 aids infested dicks are two good for the scammers.

So how do you delete your number in a PM? Also why does our personal conversations with other members come up in the search function now? That doesn't seem right.

PMs are only visible by those involved. Not everyone can see them.
