SC bear hunters?

So, things are clear as a bell; do not go out and hunt WMA lands the remaining two weeks of bear season w/o a dog, unless you want a hunting out of season charge!

I’ve spoken to multiple regional level people with SCDNR, the “law” has been changed and it is what it is for right now. My understanding is DNR had hoped for different outcome from the legislators, but….. Meaning they request requested one thing, but got something different on the backend. 🤷‍♂️

This is a double whammy for us in that we’re getting the pressure from deer hunters covering the mountain like locust during still-hunt week, and this change w respect to the dog season for the remaining two.

It is what it is for now, just gotta roll with it.

Find you one those little pocket dogs, chihuahuas, ect..put it in your pocket and go hunt...No definition in the regs on the type of dog you have to use to hunt.

I’m jealous; I want some fat to render.

I guess I’ll be going to Georgia or North Carolina later in the year.
You'd be getting here to GA a little late. Most bears are going nocturnal now and they're getting very difficult to target. Most taken now are incidental during deer hunts. Mega mast crop has kept bears from moving. Harvest rate is down 75% from previous years.
