Saw something weird in the woods, was it a cat set?

The other day I was back four miles from the nearest road as the crow flies in southern Oregon hunting deer. In a nice stand of trees I saw a bunch of 3-4' logs leaned up against a tree creating a little cubby or very lame shelter. Inside it, there were a few car air fresheners that dangle from your rearview mirror and some opened tuna cans. The air fresheners smelled very strongly and the cans were brand new (I did not overturn them to see if they were empty). Is this possibly a bobcat set? No visible trap but I believe you typically bury them and there was three inches of snow on the ground. I've heard of cats being attracted to weird smells like perfumes. I can't think of what else it could have been but it's just strange that someone would place a set so far back in the wilderness if they need to check it regularly. I looked all around and I didn't see any game cams either.

It's early for cat season. Google tells me cat season starts Dec 1.

I don't bury cat traps though. I leave them exposed.
