There is no way to mount a V4 on ultralight long action with talley one piece rings. I couldn't find any other manufacturer either so I went with the rail.

I bought a short action rail cut, it in half and then mounted the rail pieces. I used leupold UL low rings. Once I got the positioning I cut the extra rail out of the middle. Worked out really good and kept it low as well.

Great workaround! thanks! How has that combo been working for you? Scope tracking well?

I live in NY so the weather is just starting to break and be nice here so I haven't shot it yet. I'm hoping to start shooting in a week or two

Well, I'm sure glad i got a vortex lht for mine now. I almost got the zeiss and this would've drove me nuts lol. I still had a snag, wrong screws on the talleys i ordered from midway but i have nice drill presses set up in the welding area of my shop so i just made it work. Correct ones were out of stock at the time in medium height and i didn't wanna wait lol

How are the medium height talleys with the viper lht? I was gonna order some low, just not sure if it’ll fit the 42mm objective.

Just mounted today, Talley Low. I am going to return them as there are a few issues for my setup.
1) Cant fit a scope cover on the front
2) personally I need to push the scope back another 1/8" for my eye
3) The bolt hits the rear scope cover as well.

If you are looking for minimal height and no scope protection then the low WILL work.

I got the mediums for my vortex lht and its not too much higher than the lows from the looks of it, so i would recommend the mediums

Did you get the normal or extended version? A picture would be great. I cant decide to try the extended medium or just get a weaver rail with low rings

Got home late last night. I did not get the extended version, here is a pic. The rail with low mounts might put the scope up higher i imagine, but might also give you more adjustability. Good luck on your decision, hope this helps

My xlr element chassis is finally supposed to arrive tomorrow, im pretty excited to get mine finished up and back to the range!

Very nice! Mediums worked well.

Resurrecting this thread. Have a v4 I am wanting to mount and it’s just too high w EGW base and low NF rings. Has anyone tried the DNZ? I’m willing to fork up the cash if it’s a good fit…

I went with the egw base and medium rings. Its probably higher than it needs to be but it works.
Thanks. Definitely higher than I'd prefer it. I ordered a DNZ today, and going to try and return or sell the base & rings if it works. Will post here when I get it.

The DNZ is lower overall height and good positioning fully back w V4. But I’ll be damned if the machinist didn’t mess up when opening up the holes to accept 8-40 screws. The most forward and aft screw holes seem to be binding in the top portion of holes and barely threaded into receiver. Have an email to DNZ with photos…

Talley Medium 1in. Ultralight rings with a Meopta Optika5 3-15x44 barely clears the back of the scope. Probably be better to go with the offset medium ring just to have some adjustment. I decided to remove the rubber "ring" around the magnification ring so I could make this setup work. Also there’s no room for a scope cap in the back. The bolt barely clears the housing.

Much of this is repetitious but may help someone with my exact setup. I decided to go with DNZ Mounts for a Savage 110 Ultralite. The information from DNZ on the Game Reaper 2 piece mounts; and which item fit from Savage was not clear. I wanted to remove the supplied Picatinny Rail on the Savage and add lightweight 2 piece mounts. Luckily my rifle is 6.5CM short action so it worked. If you have a long action it won't work according to what I read and see on the setup on the rifle. A long action just spaces the mounts too wide for the scope. Stick with the supplied Picatinny and/or go to another mount option. I'm guessing Savage is tired of the complaints so just throw in the rail with the rifle. It wasn't even mentioned as included from what I see. Note the two piece mounts I purchased don't give any room for the scope to move forward or back so for many scopes eye relief will be an issue unless you use the Picatinny to allow flexibility. I mounted a VX-Freedom 3x9 Leupold 50mm objective. With the adjustable stock pieces on the savage ultralight it worked well as I could adjust the stock length and cheek weld to work for me. I am 5' 9" short arms. I ended up getting high mounts based on manufacturers recommendations but the mediums would have worked. If I were doing it over I would get mediums. I have slightly over 6 mm or just short of 1/4" clearance with the highs. Most people seem to think 1/8" is enough. With Mediums don't expect to add caps on the front without modifying them. The supplied screws from DNZ seemed to be the correct screws but did not want to work/start without stripping. I ended up just reusing the screws from the supplied Picatinny Rail which came off the gun and worked well. According to Savage's website ALL 110 Ultralite rifles are 8-40 and you can check by lifting the bolt and if there is a round indentation created by a center-punch on the flat portion hidden by the bolt that confirms. I think the quality of the supplied 8-40 screws just did not allow them to start correctly. Likely both savage and DNZ need to improve their quality control and it would work with minor tapering/machining of both. I read here where others had the same problem but they ultimately were able to make them work. I didn't want to risk it so used the screws that I knew worked which were slightly tapered. The head diameter was the same for both so they fit in the countersunk area fine and were very close in overall length. Big difference was the Picatinny screws required a T-15 star bit and the DNZ screws were allen heads (allen wrench supplied by DNZ). I used blue loctite so shouldn't ever move. Low torque only calls for 15-20 inch pounds which is nothing. Easy to strip. Mounted and shooting well. Regarding the rifle the pros are that it is light weight, stock is adjustable and shoots well so far. I have only put a little over a box of shells through it but it grouped well in the 6.5 CM. People complain about the stock but it seems fine to me for my application and I really like the adjustments. Most stocks with my short arms are too long for me. This one with all the spacers removed and the cheek weld raised slightly for the high mounts is just right. The bolt action is very rough and my main complaint. I am a hunter so can live with that. I am not a savage fan but like this specific rifle ok. The light weight, short barrel, accuracy and quiet safety with a muzzle brake were the big sellers to me. I don't like that the safety is covered up when the bolt is opened. I have to get used to that. I have always hunted with old school 700 Remington's so that is my comparison basis. I looked at the new Remington's and was going to wait on something to meet my requirements. Finally saw a new one but looked at one of the new model 700's and it looked really bad. They are going to have to focus on quality or no way the new company will compete. Hopefully other newbies like me find all this helpful.
