Savage Ultralite Bases/screw size?

I'm about to buy a Savage Ultralite 6.5 PRC. When I checked to see if a Leupold Backcountry cross slot rail would fit, the screws were too small. When I tried a Warne 2-pc rail, the 8-40 screws were too big.

What base/screws/rings do you I go with?

They require 8-40 screws. The screws in the Warne bases that are labeled 8-40 were too tight (or at least the ones I got) and created much difficulty to remove.

I ordered Talley 2pc lightweight rings/bases with the 8-40 screws and they work perfectly.

Nice thanks!, hows that rifle print? whats the recoil like? Just ordered a .270 win...
The recoil with the APA brake is next to nothing. When I load the bipod and have a good, solid shooting position, I can see impacts at 100 yds on 10x. The muzzle blast is ferocious, though.

Not really broken in yet, but shoots sub-moa. I'm very happy with it (and I'm picky).

Left target is 2x cold bore; right target is 2x hot bore. Bipod and rear rest with me on the trigger.

Just a FYI , if you are trying to mount a zeiss conquest v4 on an ultralight the talley one piece base/rings won't work. The rings are spaced too far apart for the scope to fit in the rings.

I have the same issue with my leupold scope what rail did you find to put on it? Looking for one that fits properly with the correct screws

Talley makes an offset ring/base that I exchanged my normal ones for. Each ring/base has a 3/8" offset. From my measurements that should work for me but won't give me much room to go forward or back with the scope so we will see. Should have them today

I put a Warne 1 pc base on mine, initially we didn't think the supplied 8-40 screws wanted to work. They did, just took a little to get them started.

I really don't want a 1 piece rail which is why I wanted the talley rings. I'm hoping the offset ones work.

Unfortunately the offset talley rings did not work with a zeiss v4. There is just no way to make it work. I ruined one ring by trying to file it down and make it work. Looks like I'll be switching scopes and ordering another set of talleys

It seems as though I am having the same trouble as the Ziess V4 owner. I took a closer look at the picture above and the Leupold looks very similar to my Nikon. Mine has a 42 objective versus his 40 objective. That is why I thought the medium mounts would work. Just don't know about the extended mounts giving me enough room to clamp onto the scope. Really want to use these if I can, but tired to ordering products and then returning them at my expense. I just wish that Talley would tell me what works on a 110 Ultralite or someone else would. :)

My buddy has the exact same 28 nosler as I do. He had never seen talley rings until I showed him mine. He ordered the standard set and mounted a leupold MarkV no problem.
I also have a lot of money wrapped up into different light weight rings and bases right now trying to figure this out. The problem with DNZ is that they charge you $40 to machine or drill out to use the 8-40 screws. I think the total would be around $125 for another set thah may or may not work. I'm about ready to switch scopes as the zeiss size or dimensions just to work

Anyone else find a good option to mount a zeiss V4 on their savage ultralight? Id like to avoid adding a rail on my .270...

I bought a short action rail cut, it in half and then mounted the rail pieces. I used leupold UL low rings. Once I got the positioning I cut the extra rail out of the middle. Worked out really good and kept it low as well.
