Savage Axis (&2) question - converting a short action to a long action?

The Savage Axis line cuts costs in a few ways, one of them being that they use one action length for all cartridges, similar to Tikka.

I know that with a few replacement parts a Tikka can be converted from short to long action, and I would expect that a Savage Axis can do the same.

Has anyone here done that before? What is the process and what parts are required if one wanted to do that?

On the tikkas it’s just a bolt stop swap I believe, maybe see if you can find a bolt stop that is made for the length you want to switch to and see if that works.

The more I read, the more I think that the only difference on the Savage Axis is the magazine (and mag port on the stock), but I have never handled a "short action" axis, so I am hoping someone knows more about this than me.

I am pretty sure the Axis only has one bolt stop (the bottom type) and when it is chambered in a short action cartridge, you just run the bolt long.

I rebarreled my beater 30.06 to a 243 and all that changed was the magazine inlet (eg. I needed a stock with SA mag vs the 3006 stock that had a LA mag inlet) I got a outlier chassis though that used aics mags so I just used sa aics mags

Went 30-06 to .223, all you need for the stock is a different spacer in the mag well. Called Savage and they sent me one for $10
