Savage 6 arc bolt face

Don’t get me wrong I am not a huge fan of savage , but I found I can get a new bolt face for 40 bucks plus a new barrel and have a 6 arc relatively easily, yes I could buy one but I like the LWH action and would like to rebarrel especially to a longer barrel life cartridge like 6 arc. When will tikka release a 6 arc bolt that isn’t the cost of a new custom barrel?

Has anyone else converted a savage short action with one of those bolt faces? Seems like a relatively easy process

I went from 223 to 6.5 creed but I also switched to a chassis with aics, that was quite a while ago but I do remember there being wonky things with the magazine depending on the model . I think I also was going to change my brothers 270 to a 300 mag for him but didn’t due to mag issues, that one has a detachable box magazine.

Should mention I already have it in an xlr chassis so it’s taking aics mags, it’s currently 6.5cm so I don’t foresee the mags being too big of any issue, I’m guessing the 6 arc might need a couple new magazines

This is my first post here but I saw your thread and thought I could contribute!

I did exactly what you are talking about. I had a Savage 16 Weather Warrior (stainless) in 7mm-08. I bought the Savage 6 ARC bolt head, an IBI barrel chambered in 6 ARC, Go and No-Go gauges and put it all together in my basement. Super easy. I put it in a Magpul Hunter stock and the thing shoots absolutely fantastically. I know Savages get a bad rap here but my action is pretty smooth (not Tikka smooth, mind you) and I love shooting it!

Found mine on gunshack.com i think it was 38 dollars or something shipped.
