Savage 110 Ultralite Issues

Just picked up an ultralight and had an extra scope base from Burris laying around. Tried to thread in the 8-40 screws that came with it and the fit was a no go as far as I am concerned. Hoping to avoid running a tap I’ll try another base and see if the screws that come with it are better. I am thinking about the EGW base.

I just ran mine in there (Talley lightweight/highs). It was pretty tight but I put them in and took them out (once, and I saw some thread shavings when I came back out). My base screws were painted and that came off of the lower portion. I put some thread locker on there (came either my wheeler leveling and lapping kit) and torqued them down. All good now. If I have issues later I’ll take it to a gun shop. I put a Vortex lht 4.5-22 on there so I don’t think I’ll have a reason to change the mounts later on. 😂

Old thread but I had a same issue worth mentioning. Savage ultralite 110 in 7 prc. Got the Leupold one piece backcountry mount. 6/48 threads fall through can’t be those. 8/40 feel like the wrong threading. I cleaned them out still didn’t feel right. Ask my son to take a look he ran a screw all in and said it didn’t feel that tight. It basically stripped the paint from the screw but was the correct size just very snug. Hope someone reads this and it helps them.
